Year 1
13.7.20 Hello everybody and welcome to the Year 1 home learning page. We feel sad writing this as it is the last one before we break for the Summer. It is a good time to say from all of the Year 1 team that we are so proud of everything that you have done this school year. We have really missed seeing you every day at school but have loved the way you have taken our ideas and used them in different ways to learn. It makes us smile when we see you achieving new and exciting things and being so independent and resourceful at home. This week we saw some children practising their bike riding, writing 'Handa' stories and finding out about different animals. Sometimes you have taken off in a different direction that you have been interested in and that has also been great to see - making a wildlife pond, growing salt crystals and some inventive ideas to practise spellings - using magnetic letters on the fridge and using scrabble tiles and to practise division - sharing things out with your toys. Quite a few of you have lost teeth too - you must be growing up!
1B - We hope you enjoy your Forest School sessions on 14/7/20 and that the weather stays sunny for you.
There are four children who will celebrate their birthdays in August during the holidays - Karina on the 6th, Aidas on the 13th, Zoja on the 19th and Olivia Openshaw on the 27th. We wish you all a very Happy Birthday and hope you enjoy your days!
Keep us posted about what you get up to next week - we look forward to seeing what you are doing.
We have uploaded a new suggested learning sheet for next week - week sixteen. We have chosen to focus on an activity that may help with transition to your new class and about your family and growing up. We have also included some learning about France to fit in with Bastille Day which will be celebrated on Tuesday 14th July. Look out below for a new story from Mrs Rushbrook and Mrs Mulligan too!
We hope you enjoy the activities but please remember, these are suggested activities to fit in when you can, alongside other things that you do with your family.
Finally, here is a prayer that we would like to share with you that you might like to say with your family as we come to the end of our school year.
May God's blessing be with us today,
At the end of this school year we pray.
Keep us safe and give us rest
So we start again all refreshed.
Full of health, full of fun
Ready to come and learn again.
May God's blessings be with us next year,
To embrace each new challenge without fear.
Fill our school with your love,
and guide our hearts from above.
Full of faith, full of hope,
full of joy, and full of love.
We wish you and your families a very restful and happy summer holiday.
Keep safe and take care,
Mrs Mulligan, Mrs Rushbrook, Mrs Stuart, Mrs Hill and Mrs Walker
