PRESCHOOL & EXTENDED CARE LEADER - GRADE 4 POINT 13

St Edmunds Catholic Preschool and Extended Care provision is seeking to appoint an experienced, innovative and dedicated Early Years specialist who can lead the preschool and extended care provision. The new leader will have the opportunity to build on the current good practice based on a Reggio Emilia approach.  The preschool is a governor-led provision and is part of St Edmund’s Catholic Primary School.

Job Title:  Preschool and Extended Care Leader

Hours: 37 hrs per week 40 weeks per year (Term time plus 2 weeks)

Salary: £31,022 pro rata (actual £27,135), plus support staff pay award 2026/27 TBC

The successful candidate will work closely with the school’s Foundation stage leader, who oversees the early years foundation stage, and will be part of a supportive, hardworking team of 5 key staff, including a room leader & dedicated admin staff. As preschool leader, the successful candidate will be the designated safeguarding lead and SENDco. There is a strong inclusion team to support children across the school, including specialist support staff for speech and language development.

The 26 place preschool and before/after school clubs are open term time only (38 weeks per year). The successful candidate will work between 8am-6pm, five days per week with the exact working times to be agreed.

The preschool is located near the centre of Bury St Edmunds. The setting is housed in its own building within the school grounds and makes use of the extensive school surroundings, including the forest school site. There is an extensive programme of continuing professional development for staff and a supportive parent community.
